Live at the Liderkranz 2025 Oktoberfest: The Killigans
The Killigans are a seven piece “folk-punk” band from Lincoln, NE. The Killigans “sound” combines the diverse musicals tastes of the bands members; fusing Punk Rock, Folk, Country and Western, Celtic, European folk, Americana, and other types of music into an upbeat, foot-stomping, beer-raising party. Lyrically, the songs range from classic storytelling to rebel songs to ballads to middle class anthems. The Killigans are a band who thrive on live performance and crowd interaction.
Core members include Brad Hoffman and the Nebesniak brothers.
Ruth Wyand has achieved a level of diversity that has exceeded the expectations of audiences around the world. Her guitar virtuosity is demonstrated by dynamic fingerpicking, bottleneck slide and a warm alto voice. She plays a mix of Americana, jazz, blues, folk, country augmented by Piedmont and bluegrass clawhammer fingerpicking.
Barak Hill is a singer-songwriter from Springfield, Missouri, the winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s 2012 Santa Cruz Guitar Song Contest, and was named one of the top three solo musicians in Southwest Missouri in a 417 Magazine readers’ poll. Barak tours regularly and has shared the stage with a wide range of artists — from popular regional bands like Big Smith and The Ben Miller Band to national artists like Jay Farrar (Son Volt) and Amanda Shires (Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit). Barak’s songs and sound run in the same vein as Amos Lee, Josh Ritter, Steve Earle, and Gillian Welch. It’s heartbroken Americana hanging on to a fistful of hope that things might just get better. Honest, well-crafted lyrics set to strong melodies connect with people on an intimate, personal level.

At first one may want to say the songs are simple and straightforward as an Americana song seems. But the complex layers of Depew’s music subtly unfold. The lyrics are often haunting and longing, guided by the mastery of instruments. The beauty and hardship of life weave together in each piece. I really enjoyed listening on a poetic level, the writing, and story that carries the song, combined with the pleasure of the music itself.
Gallivant: Short Shorts, Tube Socks, Long Hair, And Good Ol' Fashioned Rock n Roll! Gallivant is a three-piece, riff-based groove rock band, that sets a high bar for the new age of rock and roll music. They bring a high energy, arena sized rock show to stages all across the country.

The Lumpenball is the last of the last Parties of Fasching!
-and arguably the best of the Fashing Parties!
In German, Lumpen is translated as “rags” or “Ragamuffin”…. and a Ball is, well, a Ball, with dancing.
A Lumpenball, in translation, is a Ragamuffin Ball or a dress down to raggy clothing ball- no need to dress fancy ball.
Playing Live for the Liederkranz Lumpenball is Angie Kriz and The PolkaToons who plays mostly Czech polkas and waltzes, but also add lots of variety and fun to their parties! They are a three piece band consisting of primarily Angie on button accordion and vocals, Craig Falls on Tuba, and usually Justin Patrick on Drums
