Miki P and the Swallowtails

We are The Swallowtails, a rock/pop acoustic duo based in Kansas City, performing on what are traditionally folk/classical instruments. Featuring Miki P on Guitar & Vocals and Rachel Lovelace on Bassoon & Vocals, our unique arrangement helps us create a sound all our own throughout our music.

Their latest EP Lucky Penny released on February 20th, 2024. The release of this project solidified the band as an acoustic powerhouse duo; Miki holding down the rhythm and chordal section, Rachel playing soaring melodies and solos, and both Swallowtails contributing floating harmonies and grounded lead vocals. NPR’s 90.9 the Bridge said, “The earnestness of the album speaks to the members’ experiences of “stepping into adulthood, accepting growing pains and letting time heal.” Each arrangement speaks to their strongest traits – Miki’s confessional writing and subtle turns of phrase, paired with Lovelace’s poetic flow and references to nature. A lovely confluence of pastoral folk and baroque pop, these songs evoke the understated but poignant movements that we all encounter throughout life – in celebration, struggle, regrets and realizations.”

Price is $10- $20 suggested and encouraged (all door proceeds go to the musicians)
