Matt picked up the banjo and Jenny gravitated to upright bass. From here they slowly shaped their band and the old-time goodness of their setlists which draws from bluegrass to old time\, to folk and blues their music covering the gamut of americana. Matt\, who grew up the son of a Texas Western Swing fiddle player\, has recently started bringing more Bob Wills and western swing tunes into the group. Jenny\, one of the main songwriters in the band has been adding in original tunes that blend well into the mix. \nThad Miller\, fiddler extraordinaire\, joined the band in 2019.  He has become an integral part of their sound\, with his fiery fast fiddle runs and high lonesome harmonies and vocal leads.  Joel Grenemeier\, a bluegrass veteran of the Lincoln scene\, brought his dulcet tenor and mandolin sound to the Wanderers in early 2022. Rounding out the Sound is Colten Welch with his lightning-fast guitar licks and rhythm\, bringing a fun energy to the group. \nThe Midnight Wanderers really are a collaborative effort. Taking turns singing lead and picking songs keep the set diverse. Germans consider this time “the fifth season” of the year\, and it starts on November 11\, or specifically\, on 11.11 at 11:11 am. The festivity will reach its peak the following year with a six-day celebration that ends before Ash Wednesday (March5\, 2025). That’s right; it’s the last days of eating\, drinking\, and merriment before the start of Lent. \nIn other words\, the party lasts and lasts and lasts for nearly 4 months! \nWhat is a Lumpenball?\nThe Lumpenball is the last of the last Parties of Fasching! \n-and arguably the best of the Fashing Parties! \nIn German\, Lumpen is translated as “rags” or “Ragamuffin”…. and a Ball is\, well\, a Ball\, with dancing. \nA Lumpenball\, in translation\, is a Ragamuffin Ball or a dress down to raggy clothing ball- no need to dress fancy ball. \nThe idea is to attend these balls AFTER Fasching\, since you spent all of your money on your New and Fancy Easter outfit (which is hidden away until Easter Sunday)\, Fashing costumes\, drinking\, partying\, and more partying\, all you might have left is just enough to dress in rags or in the best and preferred cases…you only have your old party battered\, worn out and torn costume to wear! \nA Badge of Pride:  Maybe the more wore out your costume has become… it will be seen as sign of how much fun and parting you did! They are a three-piece band consisting of primarily Angie on button accordion and vocals\, Craig Falls on Tuba\, and usually Justin Patrick on Drums. \nAngie\, who started off playing accordion with The Leonard Havranek polka band\, has a distinct love for the music and for people…expect her music to come from the heart and expect a hug! \nCraig has been playing tuba since he first started as a kid and is exceptionally strong at it. He has earned the nickname “Turbo Tuba” for good reason! Craig also plays bass guitar with the famous Sidetrack Band for Nebraska Home football games and brings his bass along to polka gigs for a little variety and to have the opportunity to sing harmony. \nJustin has drummed with many polka bands including Kevin Chelewski. He is always ready to jam with love and polka in his heart. \nWith the three of them together you are sure to have a fun night of dancing and shenanigans! Since the 2002 break-up of his Detroit-based band “The Ottomans” (they earned a 2001 Detroit Music Award for Best New Alternative Band\, beating out “The White Stripes”)\, Jeremy has performed primarily as a solo act\, marrying folk-rock and jazz stylings to showcase his intimate stories of life\, love\, and self-discovery. \nBut from 2003 to 2017\, those stories seemed to fall on deaf ears. Facknitz carved out a living performing at bars\, coffeeshops\, and corporate events while teaching lessons on the side. “I was happy to be making a living performing music\, but my original music wasn’t being heard – and as the years passed I found myself more and more frustrated playing to little more than the din of drunken conversation.” Things came to a head on July 17th\, 2017 when Jeremy was diagnosed with viral meningitis. “I came face to face with my mortality\, and I realized it was time for a change. I quit performing at bars and spent the next year making the leap to house concerts\, touring\, and performing solely for listening audiences.” \nThe leap has paid off. Jeremy was named a top 24 finalist in the 2020\, 2022 and 2025 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competitions at Kerrville Folk Festival.
