To date\, the band has released six albums. Critics have said: “Pierce Crask hits the lyrical nail on the head” (Playback STL)\, “This is an extraordinary band producing elegant roots rock tinged with blues and country\, with slide guitar and imaginative keys” (Ruta 66 Magazine in Spain) and “Pierce Crask may very well be this town’s Randy Newman” (Riverfront Times). \nHe released his debut solo album\, The Road to Millstadt\, in 2007\, and the follow-up Black Label in 2008. 2012 saw the release of Live at The Shaved Duck to great fan and audience response. The Pierce Crask Instrumental EP was released in 2015\, featuring 6 string\, 12 string\, nylon string\, and resonator guitar\, and its companion piece\, a 5-song self-titled EP\, was released in 2018. \nFor 2023’s “Rising River” album\, Pierce was fortunate enough to work with acclaimed Chicago producer and musician Ellis Clark\, who assembled a group of some of Chicago’s finest musicians: Marc Edelstein on upright bass\, Heath Chappell on drums\, Tom Linsk on keys\, Mike Conroy on pedal steel\, Ron Haynes on flugelhorn\, and Brent Roman on percussion. Since the 2002 break-up of his Detroit-based band “The Ottomans” (they earned a 2001 Detroit Music Award for Best New Alternative Band\, beating out “The White Stripes”)\, Jeremy has performed primarily as a solo act\, marrying folk-rock and jazz stylings to showcase his intimate stories of life\, love\, and self-discovery. \nBut from 2003 to 2017\, those stories seemed to fall on deaf ears. Facknitz carved out a living performing at bars\, coffeeshops\, and corporate events while teaching lessons on the side. “I was happy to be making a living performing music\, but my original music wasn’t being heard – and as the years passed I found myself more and more frustrated playing to little more than the din of drunken conversation.” Things came to a head on July 17th\, 2017 when Jeremy was diagnosed with viral meningitis. “I came face to face with my mortality\, and I realized it was time for a change. I quit performing at bars and spent the next year making the leap to house concerts\, touring\, and performing solely for listening audiences.” \nThe leap has paid off. Jeremy was named a top 24 finalist in the 2020\, 2022 and 2025 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competitions at Kerrville Folk Festival. They are a three-piece band consisting of primarily Angie on button accordion and vocals\, Craig Falls on Tuba\, and usually Justin Patrick on Drums. \nAngie\, who started off playing accordion with The Leonard Havranek polka band\, has a distinct love for the music and for people…expect her music to come from the heart and expect a hug! \nCraig has been playing tuba since he first started as a kid and is exceptionally strong at it. He has earned the nickname “Turbo Tuba” for good reason! Craig also plays bass guitar with the famous Sidetrack Band for Nebraska Home football games and brings his bass along to polka gigs for a little variety and to have the opportunity to sing harmony. \nJustin has drummed with many polka bands including Kevin Chelewski. He is always ready to jam with love and polka in his heart. \nWith the three of them together you are sure to have a fun night of dancing and shenanigans! Thank you to Jason Falls who drummed with us for many years. It was so special to have you with us and we wish you all the happiness in the world. DESCRIPTION:Lumpenball– German Mardi Gras\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nHome\n|\nEvents\n|\nLumpenball\n \n-German Mardi Gras\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Saturday February 7\, 2026 \n7-11 pm  \nLumpenball \nGerman Mardi Gras \nGerman Karneval Mardi Gras or Carnival (Karneval) goes by a lot of different names: Fasching\, Fastnacht\, and Fassenacht. \nBut it all means one thing… fun! Germans consider this time “the fifth season” of the year\, and it starts on November 11\, or specifically\, on 11.11 at 11:11 am. The festivity will reach its peak the following year with a six-day celebration that ends before Ash Wednesday (March5\, 2025). That’s right; it’s the last days of eating\, drinking\, and merriment before the start of Lent. \nIn other words\, the party lasts and lasts and lasts for nearly 4 months! \nWhat is a Lumpenball?\nThe Lumpenball is the last of the last Parties of Fasching! \n-and arguably the best of the Fashing Parties! \nIn German\, Lumpen is translated as “rags” or “Ragamuffin”…. and a Ball is\, well\, a Ball\, with dancing. \nA Lumpenball\, in translation\, is a Ragamuffin Ball or a dress down to raggy clothing ball- no need to dress fancy ball. \nThe idea is to attend these balls AFTER Fasching\, since you spent all of your money on your New and Fancy Easter outfit (which is hidden away until Easter Sunday)\, Fashing costumes\, drinking\, partying\, and more partying\, all you might have left is just enough to dress in rags or in the best and preferred cases…you only have your old party battered\, worn out and torn costume to wear! \nA Badge of Pride:  Maybe the more wore out your costume has become… it will be seen as sign of how much fun and parting you did! In a home that is heated with wood\, he is also mastering splitting and stacking firewood\, which he says is “one of the best things a person can do with a winter afternoon.” \nIt is in this setting that Depew writes and creates music. Depew’s earliest memories involve music while playing instruments on the porch with his dad in the evenings. \nSuch intimacy is what Depew achieves with his latest release of songs. At first one may want to say the songs are simple and straightforward as an Americana song seems. But the complex layers of Depew’s music subtly unfold. The lyrics are often haunting and longing\, guided by the mastery of instruments. The beauty and hardship of life weave together in each piece.
